Spirited Women

Spirited Women is an ecumenical bible book study that meets at 2 pm on Monday’s in St. Patrick’s parish hall library. The purpose of Spirited Women is to expand participants’ biblical knowledge and spirituality through a weekly study of books from great authors.  It is also a time of prayer, sharing, and caring resulting in wonderful friendships as we work to let the Holy Spirit guide us in our daily lives. Two authors studied in 2019 were Penelope Wilcox’s trilogy The Hawk and the Dove and Liz Curtis Higgs and her texts Women of Easter, Slightly Bad Girls of the Bible, and Women of Christmas.  Prior to that we studied Pagosa author Reverend Tom Ashbrook’s text Presence which helped us to further see the depth of Jesus’s love for us and presence in our every day lives.  A rocking chair for ever took on a new meaning.

Then, in Sept 2019 we were blessed to have Liz Curtis Higgs come and give a two day retreat.  Usually she only comes for groups of 300 to 400 plus, but she accepted!  This was a real God thing which over 135 women from Pagosa Springs and 5 surrounding cities attended.
